Chrisitan Hudson of The Social Man Will be Speaking at The 21 Convention (2009)

As seen on CNN, Christian Hudson will be speaking alongside Nick Sparks on July 24th at The 21 Convention (2009) as confirmed today via e-mail.

Nick Sparks has been a confirmed speaker since the fall of 2008, and both have been incredibly helpful with promoting this year’s convention through their company, The Social Man- which IMHO, is one of the most professionally run businesses in the industry.

Definitely worth a look if you haven’t come across them before.

When the Unconventional Works, is it Really so Extreme?

Not long ago I wrote a post about my experience with the University of Central Florida’s Recreation and Wellness Center (the gym) and a nutrition class I just finished taking.

The personal training lead from the RWC jumped in on the discussion, and I believe it turned out quite valuable- for everyone. Today I’d like to expand upon a few points.

Kenny (the PT lead) said…

Upon reading your posts on this site and judging by the fact that you almost religiously follow a book whose website is an Internet version of a bad infomercial makes me question your ability to discern useful information.

Now, my initial response to this comment was that of laughter- he’s right in a sense, and it’s quite funny.

Patrick is a 7 year high intensity training professional. It was with his help that I was able to understand HIT at an accelerated rate.

I’ll be there for sure tomorrow (assuming I can find a ride).

The Quest to Become a Lean Mean Hairy Machine- Myths Exposed, Guidelines Provided

4505_745293354032_5140013_44349734_8151112_n

I grew up fairly “chubby”. I wasn’t obese, but had more than enough of a spare tire to be self conscious of growing up.

I played football however (I was actually a linemen), so it was “okay” and easy to rationalize away. Eventually though, I was no longer able to play football- I dislocated my left kneecap 5 times in a row.

Once this happened, reality set in- being overweight was not a good thing.

I tried a lot of different things in the field of exercise and nutrition- never any supplements however. I had mixed results, but eventually I found what “works”, works well, and works for everyone.

While my health has always been first and foremost (post football days) when it comes to exercise for me, I’ve never made much direct effort in the field of lowering my body fat- it’s always been something that has been…

2 Videos You Need to See…

I check the stats of The 21 Convention site fairly often, and when I do, I can see which pages are getting the most views.

Day in and day out, I see that the more popular guys get the most traffic. This isn’t TOO surprising, they are “popular” and well known after all- makes sense.

However, the data is heavily skewed. The lesser known videos get a very minimal amount of traffic- despite them being of equal and sometimes even greater value in terms of content from the speaker.

Today I’m here to help (attempt to) correct this imbalance. Below are 2 of my favorite speeches from The 21 Convention. One is from 2007 and one from 2008.

Nilatak spoke in 2007 about identity, the inner psychology behind meeting women, relationships, and a bit about “logistics” as it pertains to meeting women at bars and clubs (actually inspiring…

Dear Dream: What is P90X and Does P90X Really Work?

p90xsucks

Can you tell where this post is heading?

UPDATE-  This is a highly controversial post that has been discussed in depth. It is also a poor representation for me as a writer. As a result, I have disabled commenting on this post, but please feel free to read the discussion, and check out the new updated post on strength training and P90x. Thank you.

What is P90X?

P90X is an incredibly (currently) popular DVD set created by Tony Horton. It has spread like a virus across the internet- primarily on discussion forums and YouTube from what I’ve seen (and am tired of seeing).

According to Wikipedia

The P90X system is a 90-day workout routine that uses a technique called “muscle confusion,” a technique that prevents exercise plateauing by varying exercises over days and weeks such that the body has difficulty adapting. The system includes strength training, cardio, and

The Dream Way Lives Once Again

tdw

Not everyone knows this, but I spent the first few years of my college life approaching women at bars and clubs. And by spent, I mean a minimum of 4-5 nights a week- at one point in time I went out every single night for months on end. I did this without a drop of alcohol, and often times “flyin solo”- interestingly enough this is where most of my success has come from, even to this day.

I set out to do this primarily because I had not enjoyed success with women growing up. In fact, before finding the “pickup community”- as popularized by best selling books like The Game and Vh1′s hit show The Pickup Artist- which motivated me to take these steps in college, I had kissed a total of 3 women.

A Confused University and My Experiences with the UCF Rec and Wellness Center

There’s a post I’ve been meaning to get out for a few weeks now, a post that I originally wanted to title “UCF Absurdities”. Yesterday however, the insight I wanted to share sort of compounded upon itself after “new light” was shed on the problem.

Or, IOW, the severity of just how “in the dark” most of the world is when it comes to proper exercise and nutrition (anything and everything?) really sunk in.

Yesterday I had the unique opportunity to meet with most of the people who run the UCF Rec and Wellness Center (the gym). I had this opportunity because for over 1 year I was a group “exercise” instructor there- exercise in quotations because I no longer consider “group fitness” to actually be a legitimate modality of exercise.

Immediately after this meeting I had the privilege of attending my Summer B four hour session of Nutrition class @…

My Latest Interview on Eseduce + Last Chance to Grab Tickets @ Current Price

I had an interview with Mack Tight on Eseduce yesterday. Check it out here.

Also, tickets for The 21 Convention (2009)- July 23rd to the 26th- are currently $249.95. That price block ends June 23rd, so get your ticket (if you haven’t already) before the price rises to it’s final amount leading up to the event.

Tickets can be found here- powered by Eventbrite.

Also, exercise and nutrition only tickets are still available for $40 (on the same ticket page). They are for sale all the way up to the event, but there is a tight cap on how many I can sell so we don’t overpack the convention room.

An Experiment in Lifestyle Design- Selling My Car for a Think Bike Fun

thinkbike

So…how do I begin?

If it isn’t obvious by now, I sold my Jeep Grand Cherokee and purchased a bicycle- but not just any bike, an electric hybrid “pedal assist” bicycle.

Sound crazy? It is, a little =). Let’s continue Q an A style.

Question “numero uno”- is this a short term or long term change?

Neither, it’s a choice I made for an undetermined duration. It’s unlikely I’ll ride a bicycle for the rest of my life… but there is no telling when I’ll get a car again.

Was this done by choice or necessity?

By choice. I’m sure a lot of people immediately…
