The 21 Convention Gets Claireified with Contiga Broadcasting!

Hey guys

Man…what an incredible weekend. There is so much to say, I don’t even know where to begin. This convention is literally EXPLODING. It’s hard to wrap my head around it, much less stay on top of in the midst of moving into a new condo.

Never the less, I wanted to come out and say that everything went well, very well. I’ll have to do an official write up next, but in the meantime I wanted to share my first official video interview, of which EL Topo and Hshudo (the world’s best under 21 “pua”) jumped in on. This was filmed the day before the convention in Vintage Ultra Lounge of Downtown Orlando.

There is a TON of stuff popping up around the net. In…

“Follow Your Heart”

The most cliché, corniest line of all. But how far from the truth is it?

This past weekend I traveled to my home town in South West Floirda for a distant cousins wedding. Not having a car, I caught a ride from my big sister who also happens to live in Orlando.

On the way back- a 3+ hour drive- she asked me, “Now that your not in school, what do you do with your time?” (referring to the Summer A semester ending at UCF).

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard this type of question- “type” because I don’t believe the question is logical, it’s emotional.

People ask these kinds of questions- most of the time- from my experience, when they are looking for ideas themselves- not because they simply want to know what I do…

The 21 Convention (2009) is Here!- Official Details

I’m sure many of you know- but some of you may not- that I run the world’s largest event for dating and lifestyle advice.

It’s an event I started organizing at 17, and hosted for the first time at 18 in 2007. I gather the world’s top dating instructors/coaches (and others with awesome content to share unrelated to success with women), and have them speak for a few days.

Sounds simple, because it is =).

What makes this event cool?

Well, for one we film it (this third year in HD), and release it absolutely free on the main site, www.The21Convention.com. No fees of any kind (not even email collection), nothin- there isn’t even any advertising.

It’s a pretty radical way to “give back”, but I don’t mind at all- regardless of who…

Thoughts on Birth Control

Being up front and honest, my romantic history has consisted of only short term relationships, and as a result I’ve never really discussed birth control with a women I was intimate with.

However, I have discussed it with other women, and have looked into the subject on my own time out of sheer curiosity. Today I want to discuss what I’ve learned, a bit.

And by no means am I an expert, but I do feel I understand enough to warrant writing a blog about it.

More and more people are turned off by “pills” of any sort- myself included. Birth control seems to take a lot of heat- especially as more and more women want to stay “fit and healthy”(which unfortunately, often results in the exact opposite if that person follows conventional wisdom).

Consider the following, somewhat random observations (don’t worry, they’ll make more sense in a moment).

Exercise as it Relates to Fat Loss

Before I begin, I would like to direct you to this collection of posts on Fat Loss. They are written by Drew Baye, and collectively are an excellent source of (legitimate) information on fat loss- which is important to note because 99.999% of what’s floating around the internet regarding fat loss, exercise, and nutrition, is “complete and utter bullshit”.

Tim from MoxieLifestyle recently wrote to me

The only thing I’m skeptical about is losing weight from it (edit: regarding Body by Science protocols), I’ve looked around but haven’t found like a case of someone dropping a bunch of weight from it, just people already in good shape adding muscle.

To begin, let’s directly quote the very first paragraph in Body by Science.

Introduction: Whom…

Review: Moment Arm Exercise by Bill De Simmone

Moment Arm Exercise

Introduction

Upon searching, it surprises (shocks?) me to find not one review of this absolute gem in exercise physiology. This book truly is a needle in the hay stack.

While I can not personally vouch for the long term effectiveness of the principles contained within- nor am I especially qualified to criticize or praise those notions on a more scientific basis- Moment Arm Exercise truly is an amazing read.

In light of this- and before beginning the review- I would like to state that this book is not for “beginners” or someone with only a mild interest in exercise.

At the soonest, MAE should be read after a thorough understanding is had of the concepts behind Body by Science- so in a sense it is “continued education” for those highly motivated to continue learning about the human body, exercise,…

Thoughts on Saturated Fat

I was reading over a post by Mark S. yesterday on Saturated Fats. You can find it here.

While reading it, something indirectly hit me. It’s pretty simple, yet profound.

Let’s piece things together and take a look.

A. Conventional meats (from animals fed foods that do not belong in their diet such as corn and soy) have a higher level of saturated fat than meat from pasture fed/free range animals.

B. Dietary intake of saturated fat (beyond minimal levels because saturated fat is recognized as an essential nutrient) is scorned by mainstream nutritional wisdom. It is seen as a major source of heart disease, when in fact it has the ability to promote heart health.

C. Corn and Soy are in so many modern foods it’s not even funny. These 2 substances (a grain and a bean)…

Look to the Past for Nutrition, and the Future for Exercise: The Missing Link for CrossFit and Primal Fitness Enthusiasts

Before I begin, I would like to say that I agree with a lot of notions promoted by the CrossFit and Primal Fitness crowd- those who look to our past for guidance concerning our health and fitness.

In fact I am a massive supporter of eating like our ancestors- until I find a valid argument voiding 2+ million years of evolution (which, I’m somehow doubting will ever be done to any substantial degree).

I like the exercise protocols promoted by these groups (or, at least my personal understanding of them) because- for the most part- they are a MASSIVE step in the right direction and are a far cry from programs such as P90x and the generic (leftover aerobics?) “cardio” movement.

They “get it”. Our bodies are built for brief, intense, and relatively infrequent…

High Intensity Training: Common Newbie Mistakes

When I look back at my first few months of HIT (high intensity strength training) I can spot a few mistakes I made- well more than a few, but I think you get the point =).

I’m also frequently working with friends and family and get to see the errors made both during and after the work out. I’ve compiled a short list of the more common beginner mistakes below and detailed each one.

These are not in any particular order, although if one is especially important I will mention so.

1. Fixating on “soreness” and feeling “pumped”

(Coincidentally?) this is one of the most important mistakes to become aware of and came to my mind first when thinking of this list.

Time and time again, I hear…
