T21C News, Site Updates, Videos, New Blog, and More

Posted on 05. Sep, 2009 by Anthony 'Dream' Johnson in Convention, Miscellaneous

It’s been a little while since I’ve written anything substantial. School will do that, hence I performed an interview with Nick Sparks, recently- the grand finale soon to come.

However, just because I haven’t been blogging doesn’t mean things haven’t been busy behind the scenes. In fact, that’s where a great deal of my time has gone- site work. Both here, and The21Convention.com.

Why so much web work recently? (and still more to be done)

Tuesday September 8th @ 6pm est, 2009 event footage (over 25 hours) releases free to the world TED style in streaming 720p high definition (click to see promo trailer).

The third year in a row I collected the world’s authorities on what I am now tentatively calling “men’s success”.

The majority of the speakers focus on success with women and your social life, but many have ventured outside of those boundaries (to varying degrees) without and without my encouragement- which is certainly interesting to see (and I assure you, does not disappoint).

With all that said, let’s detail some of those updates to give you an idea of what has changed.

The21Convention.com

The “What Attendees Say” page has been updated with all of the recent reviews, written and video.

If you missed the 2009 event check it out to see what was said by attendees.

New page- “Social Media”. As I mention every so often, I’m not a big fan of running an e-mail list. So, I do this instead. This page is how you can keep in touch with me personally, as well as the convention. There is also a Facebook event page here for 2010.

The Press page has been updated to include all T21C press as well as individual speakers media appearances, including CNN, Tyra Banks Show, Current TV, Fox News, and CTV segments. It is really cool for me to see it all in one place. If you know someone in local or major media (and want to help the convention) this is a great page to direct them to.

The Photos section has been updated to include dozens of new pics, as well as a larger slide show. Simple, easy, and to the point.

I added a “Bonus Videos” section not long ago. New videos from El Topo and Dj Fuji will be hosted there soon. Basically, it is a page that catalogs all of the unofficial videos from the convention- everything from hilarious impersonations to interviews and personal fan vids.

This is kinda big, I added a “Store” for the convention. Basically I pick the best products, from the best speakers, and put them in one spot (with some of my thoughts or personal background with the speaker). I will add more soon, but check it out for the time being and let me know if you have any suggestions.

The Attend 2010 and Group Rate buttons are pretty self explanatory. For the record, any group of 10 or more can receive a significant group discount for attending a live event. Private parties, fraternities, what have you- works all the same.

I added a “footage” button for anyone interested in using the same film producer I contract. He’s done an excellent job and really pours his heart into his work. This guy’s resume is ridiculously good too…highly recommended for any filming purpose.

If you are interested in speaking or helping promote the event, I created specific pages for you. Contact me with a link to your site for the passwords.

Btw, does that contact page bother anyone? I’ve been meaning to clean it up, but does it really matter?

Ok on to some more fun stuff.

I released a long lost speech from 2008 the other day. It’s one of my favorites, and I highly recommend checking it out.

I also updated each individual footage piece with new stumble upon, reddit, and tweet buttons (also, right here on TDL)- and for a select few speeches, added in their corresponding never before seen power points.

That one in particular isn’t the best example, but 2009 has a few really good power points that add a lot to the presentation- and the 2009 ones look right (that one somehow got messed up on my computer).

The partners list on every page of the site has been updated, let me know if you’re interested in exchanging links, I’m definitely friendly with it.

Finally (concerning footage), I will attempt to add in short bios of each speaker below their video. This should help for anyone new to the convention and site that is unsure of whether or not they want to invest an hour or more of their time listening to some guy talk about XYZ. Although I believe most speeches are captivating enough to draw in the listeners they would have anyway- but that’s my humble opinion.

Oh and before I forget, 2009 footage IS in high definition, but you can watch it in standard definition for those with slower internet connections or older computers. It certainly still looks good in regular resolution, but at full screen the HD really shines.

A Recent Video

That I believe most of you will enjoy…The Dream Shake. (click to view)

This is a shake I have most mornings (literally finished one about an hour ago). It’s delicious and nutritious =). For the record, I don’t normally use THAT much honey, and frequently add organic cinnamon as well. Actually, I’m always adding new random ingredients to it. Try it out sometime.

And if you were looking for the Whey protein I use, you can find it here on Amazon (no picture but that’s the exact one I use, which as far as I know, is the best one on the market- minimally processed, and coming cows never fed grain).

A New Paleo Blog

Not long ago Chris from Conditioning Research linked to a new Paleo eating blog that I only briefly looked at. Took another look at it today….wow. This guy has been working hard, and the content is awesome. I highly recommend digging through it.

Special Footage Release for The Dream Lounge

As a special thanks to you guys, I will be picking one speech to release a day early right here (exclusively) on The Dream Lounge from The 21 Convention 2009. I won’t say which one specifically…but I think all of you will enjoy it. Check back Monday to check out the full vid in HD.

Want to help?

I get a lot of e-mails (and facebook messages) of people wanting to help the convention. Well…keep em coming! As stubbornly independent as I often am… I always appreciate a helping hand, big time.

If you want to specifically help ensure the free footage launch is a success however, there are a few things you can do.

A. Comment and Tweet

The early footage I host here on TDL, individual pecies of footage on The21Convention.com…wherever you are comfortable and have something genuine to say, short or long, it’s all appreciated. Tweets in particular are cool since it will help the videos spread like wildfire.

B. Stumble Upon and Reddit

Digg is cool, but truth be told I’ve had a lot more success with these sites than anything else. If you could, “Thumb up” each piece of footage you watch as a small token of thanks to the speaker for taking the time and finances to give it (that’s right, no speakers are paid at The 21 Convention, they all come on their own dollar).

Reddit is really cool as well, just submit it if you have an account. Bam.

C. Share the video links on forums

Post on various forums? If it won’t get you in trouble, a small announcement about the footage coming out would be awesome. Or, you can link to an individual clip of footage if you think it will help someone.

In short, talk about it and share! =)

It’s the simplest, yet most powerful way to help out- seriously.

The Dream Lounge Updates

I will be working on some really hardcore posts soon…in the mean time, check out the updated Resources section. This is also a good link to turn friends onto if they are new to healthy eating/exercise (or ironically, if they already believe they are eating and exercising “right”, but not getting the results they want, or you see them suffering due to conventional wisdom leading them astray).

Finally

To end this post, I want to announce that I am seriously considering hosting The 21 Convention in Stockholm Sweden next summer- in addition to the North American convention in July. The US event would still be the primary event, but for all you Euro folk who are a bit hesitant to fly across the world, this would be an awesome opportunity for us to meet, exchange ideas, and have a bad ass time.

Spear heading this with me would be “Zebra” from the 2008 convention. If there is anyone else in Europe, or especially Sweden, who would be interested in helping out (even something as small as inviting friends on facebook to an event), please do not hesitate to contact me at Dream@The21Convention.com. This would be a major step for the convention and I will need all the help I can get.

Thanks, have a good weekend everyone!

-Dream

    Dream,

I may be clueless here, but I still don’t understand how you want us to post the video footage on our blogs … help?

  2. Dream says:

    Hey Erika

Sorry if it’s confusing. The best initial bet would be to simply link the URL to your footage in a blog post. Like Chris did here

    http://conditioningresearch.blogspot.com/2009/09/proper-exercise-and-nutrition.html

After that you have a few options. One you can leave it linked on your blog somewhere, or 2 (this is what I recommend), you can create a page on your new blog. Such as…

    spiritualseduction.com/free-video

Or something to that effect. On that page you can embed the footage (I’ll enable it to your site on Vimeo, the hosting service). That way you have the footage on your site long term, you can even enable comments on a wordpress page. All I ask in return is a link back to the convention site, even to your own footage if you want.

Make sense? Let me know when you want to set this up and well get er done!
