Exercise is a stress. Literally, damage to the body. Why one would do this when genuinely ill is beyond me.

The quotation marks James used are quite appropriate. "Sick" for most people is not so much a symptom of legitimate illness or infection, but a total lack of alignment with the nature of their body. Nutrition, exercise, sunlight, sleep, stress, etc.

With that said, I'm not even sure how "much" it would take for me to consider taking any sort of medication, traumatic injury aside.

If I did become ill, it would depend on my symptoms with regards for what I would do. If I was ready to keel over, maybe I'd go see a doctor and see what he has to say. If not, I'd probably do very little, but I would do something.

For starters, I'd take my usual supplements. Vitamin D, fish oil, and magnesium/zinc. I'd probably go for a walk on top of that, both for sunlight (vitamin D), fresh air, and stress relief. After that, an ice cold shower.

I would not workout.

I'd also consider going to the beach. Salt water always makes my nose run and head clear up like nothing else.

Finally, I'd eat some coconut oil straight. Coconut oil is probably as close to a "magic pill" as we'll ever find.

I havent taken a single "medication", of any kind -- over the counter, prescription, or otherwise -- in a very long time. In excess of two years I believe.

Personally I'm loathe to use any medication that merely serves to alleviate symptoms and not tackle the cause of illness. This pretty much applies to most medications and most illness can be addressed by appropriate dietary changes.

On top of that I especially don't like to use any form of pain medication. Pain is always a symptom and masking it only gives the impression that the cause has been dealt with. Even taking pain medication along with making some other changes to address the illness is a bad idea in my opinion as it becomes even more difficult to try and determine whether the change had any effect. I like to use pain or discomfort as a barometer for whether a change I am making may actually be addressing the issue. Obviously the change should be underpinned by scientific evidence i.e. RCT's and should be made independently of other changes if you want any reasonable assurance that a change in symptoms is the effect of said change.

Unless you are subject to some bacterial or viral infection you shouldn't really be getting 'sick' anyway and a healthy body should tackle these anyway.

I read that you say you have not been sick in a really long time. However, I got sick (granted I am not eating in an optimal way but I am changing from this day forward).

I am wondering what you would do if you did sick? All yesterday I tried to avoid medication until my whole body was aching and I just could not handle it. So maybe medicine is necessary at some extremes? I am really trying to say, "Would you just go about your life and do nothing special if you were in fact, to get sick?"

Right on bro, I am totally against taking pills, drugs, and medicine when I get sick - EVER! People don't have a clue how pharmaceutical companies are after us--its all about making money for them! The natural human body has great regulative systems in place, often times water is the best medicine. Trust.

Oh and one more thing... You are a badass because everytime I read one of your nutrition/body/health type articles I somehow feel stronger in my conviction to eat healthy or evict my inner sweet-tooth. Haha. I love sugar and was craving a Wendy's M&M frosty at the beginning of this post... not so much now.

Would you use a sunbed for vitamin D?
I live in a country where you can only tan outside on the summer. And I dont know if I should take supplements(which i dont really like taking) or if I should use a sunbed. What do you think?
