“The Best Men’s Convention the World Has Ever Seen”

This exactly what you get with four years of momentum, five events, and thousands of the world’s best and brightest young men organizing themselves into an annual event, hosted back to back in Europe and North America.

And in an age of shame, hypocrisy, and confusion, meeting face to face to sort right from wrong – what works from what doesn’t – is exactly what’s needed. The time to correct course for ourselves, and in turn our peers…

Stockholm

7, 829 kilometers from the birth place of The 21 Convention – Orlando Florida – they said it “couldn’t be done”. They said I didn’t have the resources, the will, the support, or the know–how to pull it off – not to mention, the age (21), and experience.

Yet, here I am, writing the cover text for the DVD you now hold – a DVD that contains footage from three full days of film shot at…

$50,000 Worth of Advertising in a Minute & 46 Seconds

I was working on new attendance pages for The 21 Convention 2011 Europe and North America the other day. In the process of doing so I decided to grab* the best video-recorded comments from speakers and attendees. Naturally, I looked to our documentary series The Community Tapes (Tim’s episode is here).

Which is exactly when I came across the above gem from Tim. In one minute and forty six seconds, Tim paints a crystal clear picture of what The 21 Convention

  • is about
  • what it’s like being there
  • and the direction it’s heading in.

I could not ask for more from a speaker. Clear, to the point, and well spoken – not to mention, I think his age brings in another dynamic to the picture.

The passing of wisdom from one generation to the next.

Anyway, thanks Tim. The above means a lot to me – every bit of a…

A Year In Review

It’s been an exciting year for me, and many of you as well. This post is in memory of and tribute to this past year.

(Note: The blog design was changed a few weeks ago. As a result, not all posts are “pretty”, but, the ones I link here do work fine).

Hope you enjoy seeing the word “I”.

#############################

1. I produced a 6 episode documentary series titled The Community Tapes [Volume 1] this year. Interviewed were 5 speakers from The 21 Convention, and one multi-year attendee.

This is, bar none, the highest quality documentary series for men ever produced. I suggest you watch it online for free or buy it on DVD.

2. I hosted two back to back international conventions. One in Stockholm Sweden (June), and one in Orlando Florida (July). This was the fourth year in a row I’ve hosted The 21 Convention (in total there have now been five events).

3. I met dozens of people I had been wanting to…

Exercise in the 21st Century

This is the video of a workout I performed yesterday in Austin Texas at Efficient Exercise under the supervision of Skyler Tanner. The workout consisted of

  • 3 “Hyper Reps” for the lower back (that means maximum positive and maximum negative effort)
  • 3 “Double Negatives” on a horizontal plane (equivalent to a back to back chest press/seated row)
  • 3 “Double Negatives” on a vertical plane (equivalent to a back to back pull down/overhead press)

I did not do anything direct for my legs this workout since Keith Norris put me through the most intense leg workout of my life on Monday (which included, as a finishing touch, 3 leg press “hyper reps” on an older, horizontal plane CZT machine).

That leg workout alone left me sprawled out on the floor for a solid 30 minutes – something that’s never happened to me before my entire life. It has also left my legs “tender”,…

From the Back Cover…

Most TDL readers are familiar with The Community Tapes [Volume 1] six episode documentary series. What most are not familar with however, is what was written for the back cover of the DVD version.

Begin quote (and yes, you can get it on DVD once again).

What if the world was not as it seemed? What if the prevailing conventional wisdom was wrong at best, and out right dangerous at worst?

What if an entire generation of men and women had been led astray? What would be the consequences? More importantly, how could a positive change in the course of that generation manifest?

These are core questions we sought to answer in The Community Tapes [Volume 1]. From Orlando to Miami, we interviewed true leaders, and key figures of the emerging men’s movement phenomenon known only as The 21 Convention.

Those interviewed in Volume 1 of The Community Tapes include Adam Lyons, Steve Mayeda, Dj Fuji, Tim the “Right Hand Man”, Drew Baye, and one of the most passionate attendees…

Weekend Dream Roll

In a blatant rip off of Mark Sisson’s “Weekend Link Love”, I will share some great sites I found recently from around the net.

The Plague of Modern Masculinity

I found the end especially interesting, echoing some thoughts I have shared here on TDL, as well as at T21C 2010 (Orlando) this year. The “womb” comment also reminds me of some comments Doug McGuff has made as well in the not so distant past.

Begin quote

The fourth type of man- the zeta male.

As previously noted, the men’s movement is a unique and literally unprecedented phenomena. It will bring with it some other firsts.  One of them is the socio-sexual warrior, and I refer to him for the purpose of this discourse as the zeta male.  The tag remains faithful to the Greek alphabet classification of the other three types of men, but there is more purpose to the label.  I took it from the star Zeta Persei. I liked the navigational metaphor of…

The Greatest Generation

It’s been said that the “greatest generation” in American history was the one that grew up during the great depression and went on to fight in World War II.

Others disagree, and say that the truly greatest generation in our history was the founding generation – the generation that formed a federal union that lasts to this day, and wrote the most profound governing documents in human history.

To the surprise of many, I disagree with both of these viewpoints.

In my opinion, the greatest generation to have ever lived has not yet claimed that title. Not yet claimed because that generation is in the midst of becoming what is was meant to be, and doing as it was meant to do.

That generation is us.

It’s any young man or woman capable of thinking for him or herself, and having the courage to act decisively.

But what’s so special about modern times you ask? Surely, World…

My New Bio

I haven’t had a “bio” in a while here on TDL. I used to have one, but it felt really dated, so I took it down and had nothing up for a while. Then, I wrote the following in one, brief sitting. No picture, few links, mostly text.

Thoughts/comments/suggestions are welcome.

My name is Anthony Johnson, and this is my blog.

I am the president, CEO and founder of The 21 Convention: the world’s first, best, and largest convention for men, held annually in Europe and North America.

I started The 21 Convention at 18, along with this blog. I am now 22 years of age.

I am currently a nomad, travelling the world, both for the convention, and the pursuit of my own, continual, self-education.

This blog is an expression of those interests, and my inflexible demand for truth.

I’ve been featured in local news networks and radio stations in Orlando Florida (1 ), Fabulous Magazine of the UK (2), and the NY Times #1 best seller The Four Hour Work Week (3).

My work…
