Vitamin D and Skewed Statistics

Dr. John Cannell makes an excellent point that I have thought a lot about as of late — that 99.9999% of statistics are based on populations fucked 10 ways to sunday.

He makes the point of Vitamin D deficiency, but of course, it goes way beyond that. The general population is not just severely deficient in Vitamin D, but deficient in … probably more vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients than any of us care to count.

Not only that, but they are busy actively avoiding foods that have the nutrients they are deficient in, AND, adding insult to injury, they are scarfing down substances that can hardly be called food, that are in turn, only further destroying their health.

People run for the hills from egg yolks, butter, and red meat — and hold on to bread, sugar, soy, and RAPESEED (canola) oil like its their last supper.

This is of course, ridiculous, if not insane, and is 100% downright harmful.

But, point being, like John makes, this is skewing statistics out the wazoo on every disease…

I Thought You Didn’t “Believe” in Supplements?

I Thought You Didn’t “Believe” in Supplements?

I’ve gotten this question twice in my life before. The question makes as much sense to me as me taking “supplements” does to the person asking the question.

Meaning, the question is faulty. I do not “believe” in supplements. To the contrary, I am convinced by the sum of my knowledge and available evidence that various substances are beneficial to my body, and consequently, my life, and some of those are best ingested in uncommon forms.

Truthfully, I make very little distinction between “food” and “supplements” at this point in my life, so long as I am convinced both are overwhelmingly beneficial – if not outright necessary – for the best and highest quality of life possible to me.

This means that when I scarf down dark chocolate, I am fully aware that there are compounds in the saturated fat difficult to find elsewhere, and as far as I am aware, those compounds are beneficial to my health.

This means that I purposefully eat at minimum 1 tablespoon of…

The Race to 20,000

Doug McGuff M.D. T21C 2010 released March 5th 2011. As of June 17th 2011 it has 17,283 views. I’m guessing that’s in the realm of 14,000-15,000 unique viewers.

Pretty epic, and I am proud of driving the video this far, this fast (largely thanks to John Little and Doug McGuff for sharing the video on their blog and making their hardcore fans aware of it).

All things said and done though, I want it to go higher and faster!

This video is incredible, and I know it can do even better. At this rate it will break 50,000 views no problem within it’s first 12 months of release. But, I think the potential is there to make it hit that by the end of 2011. If that were to happen, there is a very real chance it will catch additional steam and go from 50 to 100,000, possibly, within 12 months of initial release.

A 6 digit view count for the doctor and T21C?

Awwwwwwwwwwww yeahhhhhhhhh.

So, now the question is, how do we…

Richard Nikoley Joins the Fight

Richard Nikoley Joins the Fight

Richard Nikoley of Free the Animal joins the fight for everything right in the world at The 21 Convention 2011 of Orlando Florida as a 100% confirmed speaker.

Richard’s blog is one of the most popular primal/health/fitness blogs in the world. It is in my opinion, a hard nox version of Mark’s Daily Apple web blog — which is the most popular primal/health/fitness blog in the world.

Age 51, and intimately familiar with paleo/primal nutrition and health, Richard’s 2011 speech is tentatively going to be a cross between Mark Sisson’s 2010 speech, and Tim the Right Hand Man’s “Top 10 Mistakes to Avoid in Your 20s“.

Or in short, Richard is going to kindly share, “How to Not Fuck Up Your 20s” — with a primal spotlight.

At least that’s the plan. Be there live and hear what Richard has to say to the younger generation.

Acne

Acne

I think a lot of people see me today, and in recent years, and think I have always looked the way I do now.

  • Hairy
  • Healthy
  • Lean
  • Muscular
  • Smooth hair and skin

Mostly hairy.

This is in no way representative of how I grew up though, particularly in regards to acne. Even this picture sucks though, other than in how swollen/poofy my face used to be.

Sucks because I used to have really, really, really bad acne. The kind where your entire face is covered, top to bottom.

The kind where on, numerous, numerous occasions, the girl next to you in class had to tell you “your face is bleeding”, because it would actually be bleeding and/or oozing puss.

As a teenager, this is pretty mortifying, to say the least.

As a young adult?

You tend to not give a shit what other people think, or at least, you shouldn’t. What matters is what you think.

Does this mean cast aside a strive for the ideal? For health, wellness, and physical beauty?

And in case you’re wondering, yes, I…

The World Champion of Proper Nutrition Has Arrived: Mark Sisson at The 21 Convention 2010

The World Champion of Proper Nutrition Has Arrived: Mark Sisson at The 21 Convention 2010

  • The World Champion of Proper Nutrition and Healthy Living.
  • The World’s Top Authority on Diet and Health.
  • The Spearhead of the Paleospehre.
  • The “Primal Tycoon”.
  • The man taking on the world — and winning.

Mark Sisson gave an epochal speech at The 21 Convention 2010 of Orlando Florida, rivaled only by Dr. Doug McGuff by my judgement. I suggest you watch it, now, and share it with as many people as humanly possible — and then some more.

And then fall asleep. Wake up. And share it some more.

This video really is that incredible. And while Mark is a man of absolute integrity, and unrivaled strength in his self-generated Primal movement, he will benefit from all the support he can get.

Mark is the fountainhead. He is the key to taking rational nutrition advice to a level never before seen, but that doesn’t mean he can do it alone…

So share the fucking shit out of this video — for your own sake – and…

20 Pages of Notes on Dr. McGuff’s Speech

20 Pages of Notes on Dr. McGuff’s Speech

Tim Horine from http://www.menspsychology.com/ wrote 20 pages of notes on Dr. McGuff’s speech. They are below as was sent to me (which is raw and not edited for grammar/spelling). I’m assuming they are pretty awesome regardless. Cheers. Oh, and here is the speech if you haven’t seen it yet.

T21C Day 3 July 25th 2010: Doug McGuff

“Doug is one of the wisest men of our time, and so underappreciated and undervalued, its almost indescribable.” – Anthony Dream Johnson.

Doug did HIT 3 times/week during college, medschool, upper 30s

1) have the opportunity to hear it

2) to actually have listened to it

it would have been amazing how much Doug’s Life would have progressed.

Arthur Jones Nautilus HIT training camp, but it was 15-20 different movements, 3 days/week through college, medschool, residency, late 30s early 40s, and felt like hammered dogshit.

-If he knew the minimal amount necessary to trigger adaptive response and get enough rest.

All of his life would have been much more enjoyable in a recovered state.

Everything that…

Bizzaro World Example 1

Bizzaro World Example 1

This is another short post, one where I will make a very simple and very brief point.

We live in a bizzaro world at present.

Here is an example: you can watch every episode of the widely popular Dr. Oz show ever recorded, and read all of his books — which are into the dozens from what I’m seeing on Amazon — and, on top of that, read/watch every thing by our other fitness and health lords of the day — including but not limited to Jillian Michaels and Tony Horton — and learn absolutely nothing beneficial to your life.

Not only will the sum of your knowledge not increase in the positive/reality based direction, you will actively drive your mind in reverse.

Reading/watching their intellectual finger painting escapades will actually make you dumber, and if you actually implement what they advise, the quality of your life will measurably decrease.

What’s wrong with this picture?

A. Millions of people are reading/watching this bullshit on a…
