Notes on the New Design

This blog had a pretty significant overhaul a few months back, and I never quite did justice to discussing the change.

Brief as it may be, I’ll take the time now to discuss the design changes.

~

This blog had been too simple, for too long. While I did not feel that the old design did harm to the blog, and the content of it, I did feel that it did not do justice.

Not to me as an author, not to the blog itself, nor the specific content.

It was far short of it’s potential, to say the least.

When someone approached me for the redesign, I started to think a little more seriously than I had before about a full blown overhaul of the site design. What came to mind first and foremost was what James Steele II once said about this blog :

The best blog with a focus on man as an end in himself.

This ended up being the guiding principle upon which the new theme was created. What generated the fundamental idea, what guided me to select the heroes, the images, etc.

It’s not terribly advanced, but the theme to me, is perfect.

Form follows function, and the form of this blog, now fits it’s function like a glove.

What I did not realize then, and that I realize today, is the specific way in which I interpreted what James said.

I interpreted “man as an end in himself”, to mean, as a purpose for this blog, and as the biggest influence on it’s design : a tribute to the hero in man’s soul.

Art is fuel for man’s soul.

And I wanted the artwork of this blog, to be an express and specific tribute to the hero in that soul.

Which is exactly what the images represent. From the intense Ichigo, to the roaring Goku, to the ultra-confident Roark — with a grin.

When I visit this blog, that is what I see, and what I love to see.

My hope is that you see, and are reminded of the same, each and every time you visit this blog.

”Mans proper stature is not one of mediocrity, failure, frustration or defeat, but one of acheivement, strength and nobility. In short, man can and ought to be a hero”

    Mike Mentzer

The design epitomizes your concept of man as a hero. Reverence and inspiration abound from its sight.
