Judge a Book by Its Content, Not by Its Cover

Thomas Jefferson – the principal author of the most profound document ever written in human history — once said,

“I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.”

He said this because he was fully committed to truth, justice, and reality.

This statement is a reflection of reality.

The reality that no such thing as “too much liberty” exists.

That “too much liberty” is an impossible contradiction – like “too much” self esteem, self respect, and integrity.

And contrary to popular belief, “too much liberty” is not anarchy. Liberty requires government – a proper and just government, fully and absolutely committed to protecting the rights of man – every man.

Anarchy is an absence of government, and of the protection for liberty.

Anarchy is a negative. Liberty is a positive. The two are not combinable.

The 4 Elements to Becoming a Stronger Person

  • Element 1: Do your own thinking.
  • Element 2: Drop the ambiguity you see in your own life.
  • Element 3: Be willing to “sacrifice” everything, for something that you are convinced has higher value — live congruently.
  • Element 4: Rise to the challenge of massive uncertainty when it comes your way — do not let fear obstruct your actions.

Lessons from Football

I almost never watch football, but I loved playing it in my youth. It’s what kept me going through those long hours in totalitarian, worker bee, compulsory slave camps called high school — where everything wrong in the world is shoved down your throat, smack in the middle of a free society.

It was that time of day where I got to live free — when I had the opportunity to push myself to my physical limit, run into someone full speed, fall down, get up, and do it again.

I left high school football with two important lessons under my belt.

1. Interposition

It was the spring of my junior year of high school. While still juniors, we were now the “seniors” of the football team since the former seniors were well on their way out of high school.

One still liked to workout with us as a team though, despite his football career being officially over. The coaches did not have a problem…

A Man Who Stood Against the Men of His Time

I started working out at a new gym the other day. The new gym does not have a machine I normally use, the Nautilus Nitro Lat Pulldown. But they did have a pullover machine — one of Arthur Jone’s first machines, perhaps the first if I’m not mistaken.

chine I normally use, the Nautilus Nitro Lat Pulldown. But they did have a pullover machine — one of Arthur Jone’s first machines, perhaps the first if I’m not mistaken.

Before I used it, I took a step back to admire what Arthur created, and the legacy he left behind that the rest of us benefit tremendously from.

Which is when I took this picture.

Upon further reflection, I realized that it was likely I was the only person in the entire gym who

  • A. Knew how to use this machine properly.
  • B. Understood it’s significance.

At first, this was a little saddening. But then…
