Bill DeSimone’s Congruent Exercise [Full Video]

Bill DeSimone’s Congruent Exercise [Full Video]

A pleasant change of topics on TDL — back to exercise we go. This time around we have Bill DeSimone, the champion of bio-mechanics as it applies to exercise (although the official disclaimer is that Bill is not formally educated on the subject).

Of course, I am not formally educated on event planning and hosting, and I seem to do OK at it. Similarly, I think Doug McGuff would be the first to say that 95% of the things he learned in medical school relating to nutrition are not only false, but the complete and total opposite of reality.

The list goes on and on. What else is new? The mainstream, conventional wisdom status-quo sucks — and Bill does a fantastic job of tackling it, and laying the foundation for a more effective (and infinitely safer) way to exercise in this presentation.

Watch Congruent Exercise now.

Check out my interview with Bill here and the follow up on Conditioning Research.

There is also a very old interview with Bill from none other than Doug McGuff MD here.

Four Hour Body Mini Review

Four Hour Body Mini Review

This is titled a “mini review” since it is (A) not a full review, and (B) my thoughts on the book as the content applies to me and me only.

First things first, I have enjoyed the book very much. Tim is the ultimate geek for the human body, and this monster of a book proves it.

Second, I found the following chapters and ideas most useful. The rest I either didn’t care about, or simply disagreed with [disclaimer for those who haven't bought it yet: Tim knew many of his readers would be in the same boat before publishing the book, so far as I am aware].

  • Ice Age: Mastering Temperature to Manipulate Weight
  • Six-Minute Abs: Two Exercises That Actually Work
    • Note: I do not perform direct work for my abs, nor will I start doing any. I like this chapter because Drew is in it and I think Drew is awesome. I also have a monopoly on Drew Baye Youtube…

Speed, Strength, Nutcrackers, and the Overhead Press

Speed, Strength, Nutcrackers, and the Overhead Press

I haven’t performed an overhead press in some time. Bill gets at why in this video, then cracks a walnut. Sounds funny, but not surprisingly, it’s a crystal clear explanation.

Great Men of Our Time (Part 1)

Great Men of Our Time (Part 1)

It’s been said that there are three types of men in this world – men who wish to rule over others, men who seek to obey, and men who pursue freedom, independence, and their own visions and dreams with unmeasurable vigor.

The third type of man – the passionate men who shape the world we live in, the men who live their lives as they see fit (without intruding on the right of others to do the same), and accomplish great things in the face of all odds (often to our benefit) – is an increasingly rare breed.

Yet, not all hope is lost, as those men do indeed still exist. In fact, you are looking at three of them above as you read.

Pictured from left to right are Doug McGuff MD, Mark Sisson, and Bill DeSimone – men who’s work I was very familiar with and had a lot of respect for, before meeting them just this past July at The 21 Convention 2010 of Orlando…
