The Link Between Politics and Self-Actualization — Including “Game”

No one else has been scorned as much as I have for mixing “pickup” with other topics. That’s probably because I’ve done it with greater consistency and to a higher degree than anyone else in the world.

True fans of The 21 Convention enjoy the panorama lineup of topics and appreciate the effort it takes to coherently string them together. Other people that find T21C are either turned off by the mixture of topics, or are in fact upset by it.

Confused, angered … any range and combination of responses.

This is most commonly and most vibrantly seen when politics and game come together in some capacity, be it through this blog, directly in a speech, or in an endorsement video like this.

Well, in the video above, Nathaniel Branden discusses the connection between self-esteem and politics. I say “politics” in a general sense, in spite of the video title, because the discussion is more fundamental than libertarianism (and such is the actual connection between self-esteem and politics).

While there is plenty more room for discussion in future posts … this video of Nathaniel goes a long way towards explaining why I have been so stubborn about bringing political discussion to the table of The Dream Lounge and The 21 Convention.

Because divorcing politics from a greater discussion of success, and a life of great quality on this earth, is a sin.

“Pickup” and intimate relationships are successful only when there is a healthy respect for reality. The same is true of every other topic you can name … including government, politics, and economics.

You’re a fool to think cheating reality is a good thing, and you’re an even bigger fool to think you can.

Dr. Branden is a brilliant psychotherapist and a hero of mine. His talk in this video is one of the best speeches I have ever heard him give. Note the emphasis on personal responsibility, as many libertarians seem to take the attitude that they can’t possibly live a full actualized life unless they get their anarchist utopia at the next election.

Agreed, Nathaniel is an incredible man, and a true hero. You should check out his new website when you get a chance. Tons of inexpensive audio programs just like this that are absolutely fantastic.

Yes, I’m familiar with the site.Anyone reading this who isn’t should check it out. I took his audio course Psychology of High self-Esteem, some years ago when I was at a very low point. I did ALL the sentence completions and it helped me enormously–it encouraged me to choose an active orientation to life. I recommend this or any of his other programs as worth every penny and then some.
