The Dream Shake 2.0 (Raw Edition) : Bullet Proof ™ Style

I made a “dream shake” about 3 years ago on video and people still talk about it to this day.

So, finally, I’ve made a sequel video.

Here’s the ingredients list :

  • raw grass fed milk
  • free range raw egg yolk
  • almond butter
  • peanut butter
  • banana
  • Saigon cinnamon
  • organic chocolate syrup
  • virgin coconut oil
  • grass fed/low temp. pasteurized whip cream (on top)
  • Bullet Proof Whey protein

As seen in the video, I also frequently use wild frozen blueberries. In that case I nix the nut/bean butters, as well as the chocolate syrup. I’ve tried other berries as well, but prefer blueberries the most.

Finally, I recommend using raw half/half if available over raw milk. (The store was out last I bought the milk).

    Hey posted this on the video itself. 🙂 Thanks.

    Few questions if you have the time:
    1) What do you think is the estimated cost of making a shake? For example, I assume the milk and eggs are probably costlier than their more popular counterparts.
    2) Instead of using chocolate syrup, is it better to use a solid organic chocolate? Seems like you avoid additives (especially additional sugar in the syrup) that way.
    3) What about the idea of blending in supplements/multivitamins for added nutrition? Like ginseng or Sisson’s Damage Control pills.

      1) Hmmm…. the way this specific shake was made was definitely not cheap. Probably close to 7 or even 8 dollars when all was said and done.

      A lot of that was in the nut butters though.

      So if I were to have the blueberry version (much simpler), the cost would drop dramatically. Even with the high quality egg, milk, whey, and berries … maybe 3-4 dollars, tops.

      2) I wouldn’t use solid organic chocolate, doesn’t blend well. Instead use cocoa powder (real cocoa powder, not some random hot chocolate mix). You’ll still probably need a sweetener though … try raw honey or maple syrup.

      The chocolate syrup I used was organic, so there were no weird additives in it, just sugar and cocoa basically. It’s not ultra-sweet either. It’s syrup for sure, but pretty dark considering.

      3) Never really considered it. High quality raw egg yolks ARE my multi-vitamin. Raw milk is pretty bad ass in and of itself as well.

    Hey Dream! I got 2 questions:

    1.) Can i make a bottle of this shake and store it in a bottle in the fride?
    2.) Is this drink suited for pre or post workout?

      I have never tried storing it long term. I have no idea how it would store. I always drink them immediately.

      I would never drink this pre-workout. You would throw it up immediately in any adequately intense strength training program.

      I drink it after I workout, although I’m not in a big rush to do so.

          I don’t know the exact numbers. If I had to take a guess, I’d say about a 33/33/33 split. Not necessarily on purpose, but by incidence.

    why would i use a raw egg yolk? please tell me. lets leave the salmonella for a while. have u heard of a substance called avidin? please look that up if u haven’t. and isn’t the cooked egg more bio absorbable by the body as compared to a raw egg?

      Raw yolks are great. Whites need to be cooked, or skipped. When making shakes I just toss them. When cooking I eat them, but try to leave the yolk as uncooked as possible, regardless of cooking method.

      Raw eggs that have been disinfected and cleaned thoroughly are safe. Contamination comes from chicken eggs laid by chickens who eat garbage and are locked in tiny cages in their own crap all day. Egg yolks I use are high quality, typically from my own back yard. Eggs only sit outside for a few hours before being cleaned and refrigerated.
