Here’s the short version :
With the return of The 21 Convention live event, and in the context of how much the company has grown since T21C Australia, I can no longer work fast enough and hard enough to keep up with the company. It’s getting a little ridiculous, even with the small team of quality people that T21C consists of.
Lately I’ve been waking up at 4:30-6am and working till 9 or 10 at night. And it’s still not enough. Never mind that those kind of hours have a huge impact on creative thinking and my personal life. So I need to hire more people, but the right kind of people. Otherwise you get the “bozo explosion”. No thanks. This is going out to the full 21 newsletter tomorrow.
Honestly, TDLers are at the front of the line. Long term commenters on this site consistently surprise and impress me. I’m guessing long term readers who don’t comment are much in the same boat.
Here’s the long version :
The 21 Convention is growing.
Our videos have now been watched globally for over 100,000,000 minutes, and our YouTube subscriber base has more than quadrupled in the past eighteen months; and is projected to double still over the next twelve.
To put it lightly, the workload is increasing, and I need your help in building a great company. Why?
A truly great company is not just one that is focused, innovative, and has an uncompromising vision for producing the absolute best products, services, and content. A great company is one that is *packed* with a team of amazing, talented, and passionate players. People who give a damn, who deeply love the company they work for, and love it even more as they continue to work within it.
It is for this reason that as I grow the team driving the company, I want to reach out first and foremost to those who already posses a mindful and diligent understanding of The 21 Convention, and embrace all that it fundamentally stands for.
With that said, I am not listing positions or duties at this time. I will instead list details of what is in store and required for those interested in joining the team in any capacity.
- All positions currently open are paid internships.
- Some interns will be retained for long-term positions.
- It is the individual, not the position, that is most important in this context.
- There are no unpaid internships.
- You must be able to work remotely.
- You need to be 18 or older.
- You need to be able to self-manage and work independently.
- Your work needs to reflect both quality and speed.
Above all, you need to be competent. I respect this more than anything : your ability to do good work, or very quickly learn how to do something, any one thing, truly good.
Whether you have an MBA or a high school diploma, your formal education is of no initial interest. Do not send that information from the start. Anyone who does will have their e-mail instantly deleted.
You have twenty-one sentences and not a single more, to speak to the following :
- What do you love about The 21 Convention and why
- How long have you followed/been aware of The 21 Convention
- What are you good at
- What do you think you can do for The 21 Convention or become good at
- When can you start
Applications should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Application from (your first name)” as the subject heading. No attachments, in e-mail writing only. Do not send a resume, cover letter, or work history. Anyone who does is getting the delete button faster than you can blink.
If you are a current freelancer in any capacity, you may also include what you would expect to earn joining our team.
Thank you for your time. This posting will remain open until further notice.
