From Murder to Censorship
The assault on free speech at a funeral
On September 27th 2025 my mother’s funeral was desecrated by a screaming heckler, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and the negligence of funeral staff, causing physical and emotional injury to myself and my family, on what was already the darkest day of my life.
I left my mother’s funeral in shock, with myself and my family covered in blood, after being assaulted in the middle of a eulogy reading authorized by the owner and funeral director Shannon Mullins.
This was only days after my baby brother Devin allegedly strangled and stabbed our mom to death over 100 times.
My eulogy reading was half done without interruption when a woman - one of my documented domestic abusers - suddenly began screaming and yelling, flailing her arms about, engaging in criminal disorderly conduct under FL statute 877.03.
This was the second time this day she had screamed at my family, the first instance being in St. Andrew’s Church requiring the funeral director and police to escort her out of the building - captured on my video camera.
CCPD had previously arrested this heckler on several violent crimes, and the funeral director had been warned repeatedly about potential outbursts and misconduct for this individual. LCSO has also arrested this individual for felony violent crimes in recent years.
Above is new footage from the 2nd body camera showing the assault by law enforcement against me, mid-eulogy speech for my own murdered mother, in what may ultimately be ruled as obscenely unconstituonal misconduct by police.
It is difficult to imagine the founding fathers intended this to be legitimate government action, to attack the eldest son of a murdered woman in the middle of a sacred funeral speech.
The fact that this actually happened is genuinely astounding.
The heckler who instigated conflict and chaos all day at my mother’s funeral is one of my sisters and domestic abusers, Renee Caney f/k/a Renee Johnson. She has spent several years - since 2022 - stalking and harassing me, abusing the courts of this state routinely.
Soon after this event I sued her in civil court and reported her to my local law enforcement agency. Partly in response to the events of this day HCSO found probable cause for her arrest under domestic violence stalking charges. She was arrested in open court, and I was soon granted a temporary restraining order against her for ~6 weeks. The second restraining order I’ve had against her in Florida.
Ever since this event she, her friends, and other parties have lied non-stop about this funeral and worked hard to spin a narrative against me. This video contains proof that I acted with the permission and direction of the owner and funeral director Shannon Mullins all day.
The same is true to a similar degree for the staff of St. Andrew’s Church where the eulogy was originally authorized to be read. After Renee’s outburst the church offered to read it for me as a mediation method. I declined this offer - it’s my eulogy and my mother - and opted instead to read it at the cemetery with the instruction of the funeral director.
Even my older sister Maria Stevens liked and suggested this plan.
Only my younger sister decided to scream, yell, and lie all day.
Now you will see why.
I will not be silenced. I will not be fraudulently villainized for reading an authorized eulogy at my own mother’s funeral. I will not stand to be vilified for honoring the life, suffering, and death of my own mother.
My mother and grandmother smile on me from heaven for this day.
I’ve already had one person arrested from the incidents of this day. Everyone else will be held accountable to the maximum extent possible under law including law enforcement officers.
No one is above the law.
